WANTS TO STIMULATE AND SUSTAIN ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL REGENERATION OF RURAL AREAS IN A SYSTEMATIC WAY, THE TOOL BEING
PARTICIPATORY FOREST PLANNING
What problems does the project address to?
- gap in economic development between rural and urban areas
- lack of entrepreneurship in rural areas
- little market power of forest-products-related SMEs
- lack of paths to sustainable development
What solutions do we see to foster forestry role for development through:
- improve regional and local governance and policies
- involvement of private stakeholders (such as land owners or forest businesses, mainly SMEs)
- development of entrepreneurship in many sectors (wood industry, tourism, craftsmanship, energy)
